A Portola Man has been arrested after leading the Plumas county sheriff’s office on a chase through Quincy early Tuesday morning. The chase prompted the school and neighborhoods around the Quincy Alder Campus to go on lockdown while deputies combed the area for the suspect. Three separate 911 calls helped lead the deputies to a shed in a backyard where a deputy contacted the suspect and got into an altercation, yet the deputy was able to overcome him and place him into custody. The first desperate 911 call initiating the chase was from an elderly woman on Alder Court who reported she was forced to lock herself into her bathroom and demanded to had the keys over to her car to which the suspect the through the neighborhood to flee the area, yet thanks to Plumas Deputies came to no avail. The suspect is now at the Plumas county correctional Center and has been identified as 26 year old James Swangler of Portola. He faces charges for robbery, false imprisonment, vehicle theft, and assault on a peace officer with injury, held on a 100 thousand dollar bail.
