Friday, the Lassen Superior Courthouse will hear the demurrer plea by the State and the CA Dept of Corrections and Rehabilitation in the City of Susanville’s case fighting the proposed closure of the California Correctional Center. The plea is CDCR and the State seeking dismissal of the case altogether as they belive the case is premature in that the city of Susanville has no case to stand on given proper review processes have begun. Yet traveling judge Moody who has been presiding over the case says rather a ruling on the state’s demurrer is “premature.” He also advised the attorneys the demurrer process “is going to take some time.” And that process will be beginning Friday, May 6th at 10am.
