LMUD discusses joining the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) despite being a municipality for the benefits that the utility could receive. Locally PSREC and Surprise Valley electric are part of NRECA and operate as such. With the difference in that LMUD is a public company versus a cooperative. LMUD shares much of the same qualities and relationships found in many rural electric co-ops and General Manger Pat Holly shares LMUD could benefit from by joining the association with access to federal grants, having additional staff support to apply for such things, and would have the ability to collaborate with other co-ops on shared mutual problems rural utilities often face. LMUD will have to apply for acceptance where counsel has shared is highly likely as LMUD meets many of the necessary requirements.
