The Forest Service wants to hear from you on a project near the Lake Davis area. The Plumas National Forest is accepting your written comments on the Mapes Crocker Project Preliminary Environmental Assessment. The project will have treatments in conifer forests, aspen stands, and meadows on nearly 4,500 acres. Treatments include mechanical thinning, mechanical fuels treatments, hand thinning, prescribed fire, and road maintenance, reconstruction, and removal. The goal is to improve forest health and resilience, wildlife habitat, and water quality within the near 11,000 acre project area in the Beckwourth Ranger District. You can view the assessment online and make your comments at the Plumas National Forest website. You will have 30 days to do so once published. Written comments can be emailed to [email protected]. or you can send letters in to Keli Ward at the Beckwourth Ranger District.
