Sierra County waterworks in Calpine has received almost 500,000 dollars in a water and waste disposal loan. The funds will construct a new water tank with a 140,000 gallon capacity to ensure safe drinking water for the service area. It will also provide extra water flow as insurance in the event of a fire. The loan comes from the U.S. Deptartment of Agriculture’s 5.2 billion dollar investment into rural infrastructure projects aimed at expanding high speed internet, small business investments, and water and electricity projects.
