The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and American Pavement Systems, Inc. will begin work on the Tobin Preservation Project on State Route 70 in Plumas County. The $2.9 million project will provide an asphalt rubber chip seal with isolated areas of concrete dig outs on SR 70 near Tobin, from the Butte/Plumas County line to 2 miles east of Chambers Creek Bridge. The project will also include shoulder work and the removal/replacement of thermoplastic markings.

Construction activities are now planned to start tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 15-minute delays, Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. Concrete asphalt digout work is currently planned for the remainder of this week and possibly next, prior to the project going into winter suspension. The remainder of the work will resume next spring
