The Plumas County Fire Safe Council, in partnership with the American Red Cross, local fire departments, and community partners, has launched a local “Sound the Alarm” fire safety campaign to help protect residents from home fires.
Working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death in home fires by half. As part of the national initiative, trained volunteers and fire safety partners are visiting local homes to install free smoke alarms and provide essential home fire safety education to residents and their families.
“Smoke alarms save lives, and having functioning units properly installed in your home is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect your family,” representatives noted in the program announcement.
The program is supported by national and local partners, including FEMA, State Farm, and the Plumas County Fire Chiefs Association.
