SUSANVILLE, CA — Visitors and residents passing by Lassen Municipal Utility District’s (LMUD) parking lot at 50 N. Gay Street may have noticed a burst of fresh color and artistic energy recently. In response to widespread community curiosity regarding the iconic local artwork, LMUD announced that a full refresh of the site’s mural is actively underway.
Lead artist Jacquie Cordova has returned to the site, paintbrush in hand, to restore and revitalize the public artwork. Cordova isn’t working alone—she has teamed up with acclaimed local artists Judith Lowery and Adam Crowther to bring new life to the wall.
Together, the trio of artists is working to touch up faded details, enhance visual elements, and ensure the piece remains a proud focal point for downtown Susanville.
“Many of our community members have reached out to ask about the state of the mural,” LMUD shared in a statement. “We’re happy to report that Jacquie, Judith, and Adam have been hard at work bringing this space back to its full vibrant potential.”
The restoration project highlights both LMUD’s commitment to maintaining its facilities and the vibrant, collaborative spirit of the local arts community. Passersby are encouraged to take a look next time they are near 50 N. Gay Street to see the ongoing progress firsthand.
