Pacific Gas and Electric Co. reports the planned closure of a portion of Forest Service Road 24N34 in the Bucks Lake/Grizzly Forebay area to perform maintenance at the Grizzly Powerhouse in Plumas County.
The hard closure will be in effect 24 hours a day from approximately 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, to approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. The hard closure is to a portion of Forest Service Road 24N34 from approximately 3.5 miles west of the intersection of Bucklin Road and 24N34 and from 200 feet east of the intersection of 24N36 and 24N34.
Access to Grizzly Forebay will be available from Oro-Quincy Highway via 24N36 to 24N34. Access to the south side of Lower Bucks Lake will be available via 24N34 from Bucklin Road. Access to the north side of Lower Bucks Lake and Three Lake Road will not be impacted.
The agency said the closure is necessary for public and worker safety as PG&E measures water levels in a surge chamber for a water tunnel alongside the road, which is only one vehicle wide and the space is needed for PG&E equipment and vehicles.
