CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc Unit law enforcement officers arrested a suspect on Saturday, September 24, 2026, in connection with the Grade Fire, a vegetation fire off Old County Road 59 on Milford Grade in Milford.
Responding CAL FIRE personnel received information from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office regarding a suspicious individual in the immediate area of the fire. CAL FIRE officers responded to the scene, located Sheriff’s deputies with the individual, and detained the suspect for investigation.
Following the investigation, the individual was booked into the Lassen County Jail on the following charges:

Penal Code 451(c): Arson of a structure or forest land

Penal Code 148.9: Providing false identification to a Peace Officer

Penal Code 602(m): Entering a property without consent of the owner

Penal Code 602(j): Building fires on another person’s land without permission

Public Resource Code 4421: Setting fire to lands of another
CAL FIRE expressed appreciation to the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office, Milford Fire Department, U.S. Wildland Fire Service, U.S. Forest Service, and all responding personnel for their assistance with fire suppression and the investigation.
