Donovan Damiano (Spokane, WA) tied a Feather River College record with a 43-yard field goal as the Golden Eagles defeated Hartnell College, 41–7, Saturday afternoon in Quincy.
Damiano connected from 28 yards to open the scoring before drilling the record-tying 43-yarder later in the first quarter. The freshman kicker finished a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals and 4-for-4 on extra points, accounting for 10 points in the victory.
After trailing 7–3, Feather River scored the game’s final 38 points and held Hartnell scoreless over the last three quarters.
Quarterback Kayden Leaf (Red Bluff, CA) led an FRC offense that generated 439 total yards. Leaf completed 17 of 23 passes for 197 yards and a touchdown while adding 95 rushing yards and three scores on 12 carries.
Jamariyen Farmer (Memphis, TN) paced the receiving attack with 73 yards and a touchdown on two receptions. Marcellus Clay (Boise, ID) caught a team-high seven passes for 44 yards, while Chase Langbehn (Reno, NV) added four receptions for 36 yards.
The Golden Eagles rushed for 242 yards as a team. Jalen Ward (La Center, WA) contributed 64 yards on 12 carries, Nason Rodriguez (Reno, NV) gained 42 yards on six attempts and Deshon Moore (Susanville, CA) added a rushing touchdown.
Feather River’s defense limited Hartnell to 249 total yards, including just 76 through the air. Tyrn Sam (Lovelock, CA) and Sue Pulalasi (Reno, NV) led the unit with eight tackles apiece, while Sam and Elijah Herbert (Sparks, NV) each recorded a sack. Herbert and Dylan Sumner (Truckee, CA) each intercepted a pass.
The Golden Eagles improved to 2–1 with their second consecutive victory. FRC converted 7 of 12 third-down opportunities, recorded 19 first downs and averaged 6.8 yards per offensive play.
Feather River returns to action Saturday, September 26, when the Golden Eagles travel to face Coalinga. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. PDT.
