NEU Floriston Fire for Friday 9/18/26
622 acres and 15% contained.
Due to improved mapping, the Floriston Fire has been revised to 622 acres with 15% containment. Fire crews are actively working to construct handline around the entire fire perimeter, with the north and northeast portions presenting the greatest challenges due to rugged terrain and the presence of marble. CALTRANS and CHP are working to reopen the No. 1 lane of westbound traffic at 0700 hours, with traffic controls and possible restrictions in place during the reopening.
Westbound I-80 is now OPEN at the Nevada State Line! The #2 lane remains CLOSED as fire personnel continue working in the area with emergency equipment.
Please slow down, use caution, and watch for personnel and equipment along the roadway.
WIDE LOAD RESTRICTION: Vehicles with wide loads will be restricted and turned around at the westbound Gold Ranch checkpoint.
