The Sierra Schools Foundation announces Swinging for the Schools golf tournament, the group’s annual fundraiser, set for Sunday, Oct. 11. Organizers encourage golfers to gather their friends, family and coworkers and hit the green for the 14th annual tournament at Plumas Pines Golf Resort in Graeagle.
This year, the Sierra Schools Foundation is partnering with the Rotary Club of Loyalton to bring together more than 100 golfers from across California and Northern Nevada in support of the students, teachers and schools of the Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District.
The tournament benefits more than 400 Sierra and Plumas County students, with proceeds supporting students, teachers, schools and district grant programs, said organizers. “With local schools continuing to face significant funding and program cuts, community support is more important than ever.”
The event features a full day of golf followed by a barbecue steak dinner, lawn games, prizes and an auction. Awards will be presented to the top three teams.
Plumas Pines Golf Resort is located at 402 Poplar Valley Road. Registration opens at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start set for 10:30. The barbecue dinner and lawn games begin at approximately 4 p.m.
Golfing costs $120 per person or $450 for a foursome. Registration includes green fees, cart rental, a day of golf, the barbecue steak dinner and giveaway opportunities. Tickets for the dinner only cost $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 8 and under.
“Swinging for the Schools is more than a golf tournament; it is a cherished community tradition and an opportunity to invest directly in the future of our local students and schools,” said organizers. They are also looking for giveaway items, silent auction donations and sponsorships. Those interested can register to play or support the Swinging for the Schools golf tournament at rotaryclubloyalton.betterworld.org.
