Starting on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, the CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit will be assisting Milford Fire Department and a private landowner with a 450-acre prescribed burn in the area of Wemple’s Pumpkin Patch North of Highway 395.
The burn will be conducted only when weather and fuel conditions are favorable, ensuring a controlled and manageable prescribed fire. Smoke may be visible in the Milford area and Honey Lake Valley. Residents are reminded not to report smoke to 911 unless there is an actual emergency. The burn will take approximately 3 hours to complete.

Reduce the presence of noxious weeds Manage and reduce excess vegetation along Hwy 395
Minimize the risk of wildfire ignition and spread to nearby communities and
