The Feather River College women’s volleyball team continued its outstanding start to the 2026 season by winning all four of its matches at the NorCal vs. SoCal Showcase, improving to 8–0 overall.
Hosted by Fresno City College on Sept. 4–5, the showcase is one of the state’s premier 3C2A nonconference events, bringing together top programs from Northern and Southern California. Seven of the eight participating teams appeared in the season’s first 3C2A Women’s Volleyball Coaches Association State Top 25, including each of the state’s top five teams.
The top-ranked Golden Eagles opened the showcase Friday with a hard-fought five-set victory over Grossmont, 23–25, 25–15, 22–25, 25–17, 15–13. Feather River then defeated No. 5 San Diego Mesa in four sets, 27–25, 28–26, 20–25, 25–14.
FRC returned Saturday to defeat Bakersfield, 25–16, 25–17, 25–27, 25–6, before closing the event with a four-set win over No. 2 Long Beach City, the highest-ranked Southern California team in the opening state poll. The Golden Eagles prevailed 25–16, 26–24, 27–29, 27–25.
The 4–0 weekend extended Feather River’s winning streak to 26 matches dating back to last season. FRC, the two-time defending 3C2A state champion, has captured four state championships since 2019 under head coach Sarah Ritchie.
Sophomore outside hitter Carol Manu of San Francisco led the Golden Eagles with 16 kills while hitting .262 against Grossmont. She followed with a 19-kill performance in the victory over Long Beach.
Sophomore middle blocker Madison Millanes of Chico delivered an all-around performance against Grossmont, finishing with 11 kills on a .364 hitting percentage, three service aces and five total blocks. She added three kills, an ace and nine total blocks against Long Beach.
Sophomore middle blocker Shelby Nussle of Quincy recorded 13 kills with only two errors on 26 attempts against Grossmont, producing a .423 hitting percentage. She added 10 kills and five total blocks in the win over Long Beach.
Freshman setter Juliana Van Boxtel of Davis distributed 27 assists in the Grossmont victory before adding 24 assists and three aces against Long Beach. Sophomore libero Stella Eastman of Yreka anchored the back row with 14 digs in each of those two matches.
As a team, Feather River hit .256 against Grossmont while collecting 52 kills, 48 assists, nine aces and 18 total blocks. The Golden Eagles finished the showcase with 12 sets won and only five lost.
Feather River returns to action Friday, Sept. 11, against Santa Rosa at the Delta Classic hosted by San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton.
