Local authorities are appealing to the public for information after the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office fell victim to an act of vandalism over the long weekend.
Staff returning to the facility following the holiday discovered damaged property, including heavy rocks thrown through both exterior and interior glass windows. The impacts caused significant shattered glass and structural damage inside and outside the office.
“It appears some heavy rocks have made their way through the glass windows both outside and inside our office over the long weekend,” the District Attorney’s Office stated in a public call for assistance. “If anyone has any information regarding this act of vandalism, please give us a call.”
It is currently unclear whether the incident was a random act of property destruction or a targeted act aimed directly at the law enforcement institution. Local law enforcement agencies are investigating the damage, reviewing potential security footage in the surrounding area, and encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity observed over the holiday period.
