A 21-year-old Doyle man was arrested Sunday after allegedly leading California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit along U.S. Highway 395 before fleeing on foot into a residential neighborhood.

According to the Susanville Area CHP, an officer observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on U.S. 395 on July 27 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, the rider allegedly fled, prompting a pursuit.

Authorities said the pursuit ended when the rider abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to escape on foot through a residential area. CHP officers located the suspect a short time later and took him into custody without incident.

The rider was arrested on suspicion of felony evading. The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office assisted CHP during the incident.

CHP commended the responding officers and thanked the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance.
