The Susanville Rotary Club is inviting senior citizens from across Susanville and Lassen County to enjoy an afternoon of food, entertainment, and fellowship during its 2nd Annual Senior Citizen Celebration Luncheon on Saturday, August 22.

The free event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Susanville Senior Center, 1700 Sunkist Drive, and is open to all senior citizens.

Guests will be treated to a complimentary luncheon, live entertainment, door prizes, and an opportunity to connect with friends while being recognized for the many contributions older adults have made to their families, the community, and the nation.

The luncheon is held in observance of National Senior Citizens Day, which celebrates the achievements and lasting impact of older Americans. Organizers say the event is intended to show appreciation for local seniors while bringing the community together in their honor.

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as the Susanville Rotary Club marks its Centennial Year, celebrating 100 years of service to the community from 1926 to 2026. Guided by Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” the club has organized the luncheon as one of its centennial projects.

The event is also dedicated to the memory of Shane Holland, a devoted Rotarian and past co-chair of the luncheon, whose commitment to community service continues to inspire the annual celebration.

Community members, businesses, and organizations that would like to support the event through donations or sponsorships are encouraged to contact Bill Gillaspie of the Susanville Rotary Club at 661-204-0579.

Organizers hope to welcome seniors from throughout the area for an afternoon of good food, friendship, and community appreciation.
