A concerned citizen helped prevent a potentially dangerous situation on Plumas County roads after reporting a driver suspected of reckless and impaired driving.
According to the California Highway Patrol Quincy Area, a 911 caller reported seeing a dark gray sedan traveling at high speeds, crossing double yellow lines, and flashing its headlights at other vehicles.
CHP Quincy officers responded and located the vehicle, conducting an enforcement stop. During the stop, officers said the driver showed signs of alcohol intoxication and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers also found several empty alcohol containers.
CHP Quincy thanked the caller for speaking up and reporting the dangerous driving behavior, noting the situation could have resulted in a much more serious outcome.
Officials are reminding drivers and residents that if they see unsafe or suspicious activity on the roadway, reporting it can help keep others safe.
“See something, say something,” CHP said, reminding the public that a simple call could save a life.
