If you are planning a trip to Blue Lake in the Modoc National Forest, you will need to make other plans for the next couple of weeks as improvement work gets underway.
The day-use area and boat launch at Blue Lake will be closed from July 6 through July 17 while crews resurface the facilities. During the project, public access to both the recreation area and boat launch will not be available.
Forest officials say the temporary closure is necessary to complete improvements that will enhance the area for future visitors. They are asking the public for patience while the work is completed.
If Blue Lake was on your summer itinerary, the Modoc National Forest offers plenty of other lakes and reservoirs that remain open for boating, fishing, paddling, and other outdoor recreation while the project is underway.
Barring any delays, the Blue Lake day-use area and boat launch are expected to reopen following the completion of resurfacing work on July 17.
