The Susanville Little League Minors All-Star team, made up of players ages 8 to 11, put together an impressive postseason run last week, advancing to the final four of the District 48 Minors Tournament in Loyalton.

Representing Susanville against some of the top young players from across northeastern California, the team opened tournament play with a convincing 12-3 victory before erupting for a 25-4 win over Modoc in the second round.

Susanville’s unbeaten run came to an end against Intermountain, which held the local All-Stars scoreless in a tightly contested 3-0 game. The loss dropped Susanville into the elimination bracket, where the team responded with an 8-3 victory to keep its championship hopes alive.

That win set up a rematch with Intermountain, with a spot in the championship round on the line. Susanville battled throughout the contest, but Intermountain pulled away late for a 9-4 victory, ending Susanville’s tournament run.

The Susanville All-Stars finished the tournament with a 3-2 record and showcased a balanced combination of strong hitting, solid defense, and resilience throughout the week. In their three wins, Susanville scored 45 runs while allowing just 10.

The District 48 Minors Tournament serves as the first level of Little League postseason play and features all-star teams composed of standout players selected from local leagues. For many of Susanville’s young athletes, the tournament provided their first taste of all-star competition and an opportunity to represent their community on a larger stage.

Despite falling just short of a championship appearance, the Susanville Minors All-Stars turned in a memorable postseason performance and demonstrated the depth of young baseball talent developing within the local Little League program.
