Chris Rochette, a science fiction author from Janesville, will sign copies of his novel, “The Outer Rings,” on Saturday, June 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Margie’s Book Nook.
“The Outer Rings” is the first book in a planned trilogy. Rochette draws on his background from nearly 20 years working on ships in a Bay Area shipyard to create realistic space vessels in his story.
The novel explores a future conflict between groups debating the ethics of terraforming the moon. Rochette moved to Lassen County about two years ago after serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he traveled extensively.
He met his wife during his Coast Guard service. His experience protecting the nation and working with ships informs the detailed world he builds in his writing.
