Modoc wins grant awards from McConnell

The McConnell Fund at the Community Foundation of the North State awarded $777,822 in spring
grants to 34 nonprofits serving Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity and Modoc counties. Grants
supported critical infrastructure and equipment needs, including repairs or replacement of roofs, HVAC
systems, computers and heavy equipment.
“The McConnell Fund is one of our most impactful grantmaking programs,” said Justine Lehman,
Program Officer at the Community Foundation of the North State. “These grants help nonprofits
maintain the infrastructure and equipment necessary to serve their communities. While requests for
items like air conditioning units may not always seem exciting, they can make a tremendous
difference for community members in rural areas who rely on parks, libraries and community spaces
for relief during extreme summer heat.”
For the past 25 years, the Community Foundation of the North State has managed The McConnell
Fund, which is supported by The McConnell Foundation, an independent foundation dedicated to
building better communities through philanthropy. Through this longstanding partnership, more than
$15 million has been distributed to nonprofits and public agencies throughout the North State.
A detailed list of 2026 McConnell Fund grant awards is available at Community Foundation of the
North State or in the attached award listing.
