On 05/19/2026, at approximately 1530 hours, Quincy Area units responded to a solo vehicle rollover, involving a Ford Expedition, on SR-89 south of Forgay Road, within unincorporated Plumas County. The solo driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel just prior to CHP arrival. Based upon physical evidence, the involved vehicle straightened out a righthand curve while traveling northbound on SR-89, struck a paddle marker on the west shoulder, traveled up a dirt embankment and struck a fence as it went airborne. The vehicle then impacted the hillside with its front end before rolling down the hill and coming to rest on its right side facing in a southerly direction upon the west shoulder. So far there are no known witnesses to the collision. The subject had been fully restrained by his seatbelt and the vehicles rollover/side impact airbags had deployed. Verification of medical issues and/or DUI being a factor is pending the sheriff’s coroner investigation.
