CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc Unit will be conducting a timber understory prescribed burn in Plumas County starting on Saturday May 9, 2026,
east of the community of Bailey Creek along Plumas County Road A13 and south of CA State Highway 36.
Smoke may be visible near the communities of Bailey Creek, Hamilton Branch and the Almanor Basin, as well as along CA State Route 36 and Plumas County Road A13. Prescribed burn signs will be posted along roadways to inform the public. There is no need to call 911 to report these burn operations.
CAL FIRE uses prescribed fire as an important tool to reduce hazardous fuels, improve ecosystem health, and enhance public safety. This project also supports broader fuel reduction goals in the area, aimed at reducing the impacts of potential future wildfires.
