The Modoc County District Attorney’s Office announces that 35-year-old Jessica Beard has been sentenced to 3 years state prison by Judge Wendy Dier following her conviction by a jury on multiple charges.
A Modoc County jury found Beard guilty of two counts of felony child abuse under
PC 273a(a), one count of felony possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm in violation of HS 11370.1(a), and one felony count of being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm under HS 11550(e). She was also convicted of a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance under HS 11377(a), and a misdemeanor count of possession of controlled substance paraphernalia HS 11364(a).
The District Attorney’s Office would like to commend the minor victims in this case. Their strength and bravery were instrumental in ensuring accountability and justice. We also recognize the outstanding work of lead investigator Deputy Joe Harris and the entire team at the Modoc County Sheriff’s Office for the thorough investigation and dedication to protecting our community.
