Plumas District Hospital, in coordination with its regional partners, today announced the formation of Sierra Regional EMS, a new ambulance service organization that will support the delivery of high-quality emergency medical services throughout Lassen County.
As part of this initiative, PDH, along with regional partners, anticipates assuming responsibility for ground ambulance operations currently provided by Sierra Medical Services Alliance effective July 1, 2026. This transition will retain current SEMSA EMS staff in Lassen County while supporting a coordinated regional effort to ensure continuous, reliable service for the communities served.
“Sierra Regional EMS represents a significant step forward in strengthening emergency medical services across our region,” said PDH leadership. “Through strong partnerships and a shared commitment to patient care, we are focused on maintaining seamless service while building a sustainable model for the future.”
In alignment with these efforts, Plumas District Hospital intends to respond to the anticipated revised Request for Proposals and will submit a bid to serve as the exclusive Advanced Life Support provider for the Lassen County Exclusive Operating Area.
Additionally, PDH and Air Methods will continue to staff and operate the air ambulance bases located in Susanville and Adin. This ensures uninterrupted access to critical air medical transport services for rural and frontier communities across the region.
The launch of Sierra Regional EMS underscores PDH’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to timely, high-quality emergency care while strengthening regional partnerships to meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves.
