Assemblymember Heather Hardwick stated that SB 1305 passed out of committee yesterday. Known as the Grizzly Bear study bill- this bill raises big concerns for Northern CA already facing growing predator impacts and strained resources. We must prioritize public safety, communities, and practical, science-based solutions before considering grizzly reintroduction.
While I absolutely respect the deep cultural connection tribes have to the grizzly bear, I also see the very real imbalance that we are currently facing with our wildlife.
Thank you to Sierra County Sheriff Mike Fisher, Lassen County Sheriff Jon McGarva, Trinity County Sheriff Tim Saxon, El Dorado County Sheriff Jeff Leikauf (not pictured), Siskiyou County Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue—and California Cattlemen’s President Rick Roberti for their strong advocacy for the Northstate at the hearing!
