Modoc County District Attorney Nina Salarno announced that Quentin Bocanegra has been held to answer following a preliminary hearing on all charged counts, enhancements and special allegations. The defendant was remanded into custody.
The court found sufficient evidence to hold Bocanegra on felony violations of criminal threats and stalking, along with several accompanying special allegations. The court also held him to answer on an enhancement alleging two prior strike convictions, making the case eligible for sentencing under California’s Three Strikes law.
The next court hearing is scheduled for April 16, 2026, for arraignment on the information.
Salarno commended Alturas Police Officer Frankie Widby and California State Parole Officer Gerald Schmidt for their diligence, professionalism and work on the investigation and handling of the case.
