State Senator Mike McGuire announced his campaign for Congress in the upcoming special election for California’s 1st Congressional District, to fill the remainder of Rep. Doug LaMalfa’s Congressional term.

“The hardworking folks of the North State deserve representation that fights every day and delivers for good rural jobs, our hospitals and health centers, high quality public schools and the unique needs of rural communities,” McGuire said, “The stakes for this country are too high and we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines. I’m all in to deliver for the North State. Every damn day.”
McGuire has already declared in the regularly scheduled CA-01 election for the full term, with the support of some of California’s most influential labor organizations and elected leaders. That list includes: the International Association of Firefighters, the Nor Cal Carpenters Union and the California Conference of Carpenters, the California Nurses Association, local teachers and the California Teachers Association, Operating Engineers Local 3, Governor Gavin Newsom, Senator Adam Schiff, Senator Alex Padilla, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Congressman Mike Thompson, Congressman Jared Huffman, every Democratic County Supervisor in CA-01 and dozens of local elected officials from across Northern California.
Since his campaign launch for the regularly scheduled CA-01 election on Nov. 13, McGuire raised more than $450,000 from more than 5,000 contributions from every county in CA-01 with 94 percent of contributions $100 and under.
He enters the special election with more than $392K cash on hand. The primary election for the CA-01 special will be conducted in conjunction with the regular primary election on June 2.
