Prescribed Fire Update – February 7–10, 2026
Project Update – Pile Burning Operations
Terra Fuego Resource Foundation, Inc., contracted by the Plumas County Fire Safe Council (PCFSC), plans to conduct prescribed pile burning operations as part of ongoing hazardous fuels reduction efforts in Plumas County. Burning could resume as early as Saturday, February 7, and may continue through Tuesday, February 10, conditions permitting. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities.
Project Information
Project Name: Plumas Disadvantaged Communities Project
Implementing Organization: Plumas County Fire Safe Council
Contractor: Terra Fuego Resource Foundation
Location: Plumas County (multiple units)
Type of Activity: Prescribed fire – pile burning operations
Dates: February 7–10, 2026 (conditions permitting)
Planned Operations (Weather Permitting)
Terra Fuego may be able to complete the project during this period if conditions allow.
Current forecasts indicate chances of rain. With this precipitation, favorable burn window probabilities increase. Based on these conditions, pile burning operations may begin Saturday, February 7th, and run through Tuesday, February 10th, depending on site conditions and final weather observations.
As always, ignition will only occur if conditions remain within prescription and allow for safe operations and responsible smoke management.
Fuels & Conditions Update
Drying conditions allow piles to consume fuels more completely and efficiently, improving overall effectiveness, reducing smoke impacts and post-ignition work.
Smoke Information
Smoke will be present in the project area. Crews will continue to monitor smoke behavior and adjust operations as needed to reduce impacts to nearby communities.
Residents are asked to avoid active burn areas to allow crews to work safely. Thank you for your patience and support as partners work to reduce hazardous fuels and strengthen fire-adapted communities.
