Portola High Seniors Sweep Plumas Arts Poetry Out Loud Competition

Portola High School had 24 students participate in this year’s Plumas Arts Poetry Out Loud competition at the Quincy Town Hall Theater. There were several students from Chester High School and Indian Valley Academy and a homeschool participant as well. There was a total of 30 participants overall this year!

The top three were Portola High School seniors.
1st place will go on to the California state competition on March 8-9 in Sacramento, CA.

1st place: Paige Matlock with her recitation of “Semblance: Screens” by Liz Waldner
2nd place: Zion Dammons with his recitation of “I, Too” by Langston Hughes
3rd place: Giannina Avelar with her recitation of “Love on the Other Side of the Border” by Anaïs Deal-Marquéz
