The Lassen County Office of Education (LCOE) successfully concluded this year’s You Matter Conference, a countywide initiative designed to
educate, support, and empower middle and high school students across Lassen County. Held over six different days, the conference reached every middle and high school campus in the county, engaging more than 1,500 students in meaningful conversations centered on wellness,
safety, and personal growth.
Throughout the conference, students participated in interactive sessions addressing a wide range of timely and relevant topics. Presentations included guidance on staying safe in the digital world, such as understanding and navigating deepfakes, along with fentanyl awareness, healthy
relationships, strategies for managing stress and mental health, making healthy choices, and more. Each session was designed to provide students with practical tools and knowledge they can apply in their everyday lives. In addition to the presentations, students received resource guides outlining ways to access additional support if needed, ensuring that every student knows where to turn for help within
their school and community.
“The You Matter Conference reflects LCOE’s ongoing commitment to supporting the whole child and creating safe, informed, and connected school communities,” said Superintendent of Schools, Patricia Gunderson. “This event was an important opportunity to bring critical
conversations directly to students across the county.”
LCOE extends sincere appreciation to all of the community partners, presenters, schools, and staff who helped make this event possible. Their collaboration and dedication played a vital role in delivering impactful programming to students throughout Lassen County. Thank you to
