Starting Friday, February 6, 2026, CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit will assist with Phase 2 of an 8-acre prescribed bum near Adin along the Lassen-Modoc County line. This project is part of a multi-year effort within the treatment area, with different portions burmed over time based on identified land management needs. Ignition will occur only when conditions are favorable for a safe, low-intensity prescribed burn.
Smoke will be visible throughout the Big Valley area during burm operations. This is a planned and permitted project, and there is no need to report the smoke to 911.
CAL FIRE uses prescribed fire as an important tool to reduce hazardous fuels, improve ecosystem health, and enhance public safety.
