With approximately four months to go until Election Day, campaign finance reports filed with the California Secretary of State show Republican Dom Belza leading with the most resources in the campaign for the 3rd Assembly District. As of the December 31st deadline, Belza raised an impressive $438,000 since announcing his campaign, making him one of the most prolific fundraisers in California.
Similar to the June fundraising number, Belza leads the all-important cash-on-hand race with $328,000. Unlike his opponents, Belza’s finance report includes no personal loans or gimmicks. If you remove candidate personal loans, which candidates rarely spend, Belza has more than double the cash-on-hand advantage.
Actual dollars raised during the period show Belza raising more than three times his nearest opponent:
Belza $198,500
Coolidge $58,923
Johansson $39,858
The announcement comes as no surprise; Belza has long led the fundraising race with over 550 individual donors since announcing his campaign.
