The city of Susanville announced two city council seats will be up for election for four-year terms Tuesday, June 2.

The terms of Mayor Mendy Schuster and Councilmember Russ Brown expire in June. Schuster and Brown may seek re-election.

According to a statement by the city, the nomination period for these offices begins Feb. 9 and ends at 5 p.m. March 6.

According to the city, “If the nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by March 6, 2026, the voters shall have until the 83rd day before the election, March 11, 2026, to nominate candidates other than the person(s) who are the incumbents on the 88h day before the election, for that incumbent’s elective office.”
