The Lassen County Office of Education (LCOE) announces the cancellation of the 2026 Educator Summit, originally scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026. After careful review, LCOE made the difficult decision to cancel the event due to lower-than anticipated registration numbers combined with the overall costs associated with hosting the summit, including presenter fees. Moving forward under these circumstances would not be fiscally responsible. This decision was made thoughtfully and with careful consideration of both budgetary stewardship and the needs of the educator community. “We understand that many educators were looking forward to this event, and this was not a decision we took lightly,” said Patricia Gunderson, Lassen County Superintendent of Schools. “Our priority is to ensure that professional learning opportunities remain accessible, meaningful, and financially responsible.”
While the Educator Summit will not take place as planned, LCOE is actively exploring opportunities to reschedule the planned learning sessions at a later date, likely in after-school formats, to ensure the content and professional learning can still be shared with Lassen County educators. Additional information will be communicated as plans are finalized.
LCOE remains committed to supporting educators through high-quality professional learning and appreciates the understanding and continued partnership of the Lassen County education community.
