New details have emerged in the search for a missing woman last seen in Redding on Christmas Day. The body of Trena Borello was found over the weekend.

A friend of Borello said her body was discovered on Sunday in the woods not far from railroad tracks in the Little Valley area, where she lived. Her car had been found along the tracks four days after she went missing, near the Shasta-Lassen County line.

On Monday afternoon, the Redding Police Department confirmed that Borello was found dead in Lassen County. The case was originally investigated by the RPD, but the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office is now the lead agency on the case.

The Redding Police Department reported that Borello called her family from the Redding Walmart early on Christmas morning, saying she was headed home to the McArthur/Little Valley area. Neighbors said they saw her car at her home on December 27, and then the car was found abandoned near the tracks on December 29.

Borello’s body was found on Sunday.
