The Quincy Junior High Girls Basketball Program announces that the seventh and eighth grade girls basketball team captured the championship at the Janesville Bob Nel’s Tournament, held Dec. 11 to 13, finishing the weekend undefeated against Richmond, Janesville and Diamond View.

Led by head coach Joni Moore, the Lady Trojans advanced to the championship game on Sunday night for a rematch against Diamond View where Quincy secured a 54–47 victory.

Individual honors highlighted the tournament. Jenna Moore was awarded all-tourney honors for the Trojans, while Jaycee Sutton earned the MVP designation for the eighth grade girls’ bracket.

“Rural sports demand a lot: long drives, new teams, new refs,” Joni Moore said. “To show up in a bigger town and come out champions shows how special this group is. I’m honored to be part of their journey.”

The Quincy Junior High Girls Basketball Program invites the community to attend its first home games of the season Jan. 10, 2026, at the Quincy High upper gym. Game times are 10 a.m. for the seventh grade team and noon for the eighth grade team.
