Monday, November 17th, Plumas County Search and Rescue (PCSAR) was notified by the Sheriff’s Office of a second-hand report involving an individual experiencing vehicle trouble on a remote road north of Cromberg. The reporting party indicated the subject had multiple medical issues and was attempting to walk out of the area after becoming stranded.

With only a general area known, dispatch worked quickly to contact the subject and was able to obtain an accurate location using the E911 system. PCSAR members were then deployed to the subject’s position.

Recent rains had created hazardous road conditions, and the subject’s truck had slid off the roadway, leaving it stuck in a precarious position. Despite this and his pre-existing medical concerns, the subject was able to walk far enough to regain cell service and call for help. Fortunately, he did not require medical attention once contacted.

PCSAR members provided transportation for the individual back to Quincy and ensured he was safe and accounted for.

We thank the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office for their coordination and extend appreciation to our SAR volunteers for their continued commitment to helping others in remote and often difficult conditions.
