The Plumas County Fire Safe Council, in collaboration with Terra Fuego Resource Foundation and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, invites the community to a town hall meeting regarding upcoming prescribed fire operations. The meeting is set for Friday, Nov. 14, at 5 p.m. at the West End Theatre.

Burning is planned for this fall and winter near Quincy, La Porte Road and Keddie. Projects include 46 acres of grapple piles and 190.9 acres of hand pile burning.

Bill Jacks, executive director of Terra Fuego Resource Foundation, will present his plan for burning 236.9 acres of piles in the PCFSC’s Plumas Disadvantaged Communities Project. Organizers say this meeting will provide valuable information about

  • Pile burning operations and timeline
  • Potential smoke impacts to the area
  • Steps residents can take to prepare for smoke events
  • Opportunities to ask questions and learn what to expect

Organizers invite community members and any interested parties who would like to learn more about the prescribed fire operations to attend. Questions can be directed to Jacks at [email protected] or PCFSC’s Katie Quinn at [email protected].
