ROUTE 36 GRIZZLY SLIDE RESPONSE UPDATE: The slide area east of Swimmer’s Delight near Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park remains under one-way traffic control, with 10-minute delays. The roadway surface has so far taken a cosmetic beating from ongoing slide activity and weather conditions, and crews are actively patching and maintaining the roadway to keep it drivable. At this time, the roadway remains stable and safe for travel. Crews will be utilizing gravel to fill sections until the weather conditions allow for paving. Travelers should continue to travel safely and cautiously through the area.
The catchment berm built to collect debris is performing well and still has plenty of capacity, though crews plan to clean it out soon. Caltrans continues to monitor the slope, clear slide material, and adjust safety measures to keep travelers moving safely through the area.
