The Plumas County Elections office has released information about the upcoming California Uniform District Election, to be held Tuesday Nov. 4. Several representative and board of director offices are up for re-election this term, including boards overseeing fire protection, utilities, community services, recreation and parks and schools.
Eligibility
Candidates must be 18 years or older, and reside in the district they seek to represent. In some cases, additional qualifications may apply. Those interested in serving on a district board must complete a declaration for candidacy form and provide a statement of qualifications. Terms are typically four years.
Paperwork is available at the Plumas County Election office located inside the county courthouse at 520 Main St., Room 102. The filing period opened July 14, and is scheduled to close Aug. 8, at 5:00 p.m.. Candidates can withdraw up until Aug. 11 at 5 p.m..
Election process
Victory in these district elections is determined by simple majority. If only one person files for any elective office, a certificate of appointment in lieu of election will be presented to that person. If no person files for an office the Board of Supervisors has the authority to appoint a qualified individuals to fill the position before Dec. 5.
The November election is mail ballots only. Ballots will be mailed to registered voters by Oct. 6.

Fire Protection Districts: Beckwourth Peak Fire Protection District, Crescent Mills Fire Protection District, Graeagle Fire Protection District, Hamilton Branch Fire Protection District, La Porte Fire Protection District, Meadow Valley Fire Protection District, Peninsula Fire Protection District, Prattville-Almanor Fire Protection District, Quincy Fire Protection District.
Community Services Districts: American Valley Community Services District, C-Road Community Services District, Feather River Canyon Community Services District, Gold Mountain Community Services District, Graeagle Community Services District, Greenhorn Creek Community Services District, Grizzly Lake Community Services District, Grizzly Ranch Community Services District, Hamilton Branch Community Services District, Indian Valley Community Services District, Long Valley Community Services District, Plumas Eureka Community Services District, West Almanor Community Services District, Whitehawk Ranch Community Services District.
Recreation and Park Districts: Almanor Recreation and Park District, Central Plumas Recreation and Park District, Indian Valley Recreation and Park District.
Public Utility Districts: Chester Public Utilities District, Clio Public Utility District, Johnsville Public Utilities District (no resident requirement), Last Chance Creek Water District.
Plumas Unified School District: Trustee Area 5 to fill vacancy due to resignation.
