The Lassen County Office of Education’s Communications Specialist joined Janesville School in celebrating the close of a successful school year and an impressive academic achievement.

Earlier this year, the school issued a bold challenge to its students: read a combined total of 90 million words by the end of the year. Not only did students rise to the challenge, but they surpassed it, reading an astounding 92.2 million words schoolwide.

In honor of this accomplishment, Janesville recognized its top 15 readers, celebrating students who demonstrated exceptional dedication and a love of reading.

Top readers for grades 1–3
Grant Barker, Sarah Leroy, Branson LaValleur Martinez, Lilah Pratt, Legacy Winfrey, Evelyn Harkness and Parker Gray.

Top readers for grades 4–8
Audrey Estrada, Raelynn Hinkson, Ridley Woodruff, Izzobelle Wilson, Renezmae Winfrey, Lillaynn Gowin, Jude Anderson and Alex Solomon.

To make the celebration even sweeter, students were given a hilarious and colorful reward — the chance to silly string their Superintendent and Principal, Jamie Lewis, in front of their peers!

The laughter-filled moment added a fun and memorable touch to an already exciting day.

Janesville School’s reading challenge not only fostered a love of literacy but also showed what’s possible when students are motivated, supported and encouraged to aim high.

Congratulations to the entire Janesville community on a job well done.
