Missing Person Search Underway in Mabie, CA – January 28, 2025
MABIE, CA – On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 2:49 PM, the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person near the Middle Fork of the Feather River, located west of Mitchell Lane in Mabie. The caller, who was fishing with two others, stated that one individual had fallen into the river and was believed to have been swept under the ice.
Emergency response teams were immediately deployed, including Plumas County Search and Rescue, Eastern Plumas Ambulance, Beckwourth Peak Fire, and additional air and ground support from local agencies. Despite extensive efforts throughout the afternoon, the search was unsuccessful. Search efforts will resume at first light on January 29, 2025.
Out of respect for the privacy of those involved, no further details regarding the missing person will be released at this time. The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office will provide updates as new information becomes available.
