A special tax election may be put to the voters in three special districts in Plumas this November to increase funds for emergency and fire services.

This morning, the Supervisors will consider approving the Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters to organize the special tax elections. These will take place for the specific districts of the Prattville-Almanor Fire Protection District, the Plumas Eureka CSD, and Chester CSD. Each district is looking to increase its already collected tax that funds emergency medical services, fire protection and prevention, hazardous material response, rescue, and other services.

Prattville Alamanor Fire District currently collects 75 dollars from each household. However, with passage, voters would approve a permanent tax of $125.00 per year, with optional annual adjustments not exceeding three percent (3%). While the Chester CSD will ask voters to levy an annual $350 special tax where each year it would increase by $10 up to $400. The district says this will provide the CSD with anticipated revenues of over $550,000. It is unclear the amount Plumas Eureka is seeking.

Discussions and possible actions will be followed by a roll call vote by the Supervisors. The board convenes at 10 am on the third floor of the Quincy Courthouse.
