Alvin (Papa) Gene Blickenstaff entered into rest July 7, 2022 to join many loved ones and numerous friends. Al\/in was a lifelong resident of Lassen County. He was born March 9, 1939 to Art and Ester Blickenstaff.
Alvin attended Lassen High School, graduating in 1954. He then attended Chico State and received his certificate in farm Mechanics and poultry. Alvin then returned to Janesville to the family ranch. Alvin then helped head the process of transitioning the ranch into a feed lot and then hay ranch which remained in operation for many years.
While working on the family ranch Alvin was a member of the board of directors for Plumas Bank, the Junior Livestock Auction, Lassen County Farm Bureau, Lassen County Cattleman Association, the soil conservation Association, and Janesville School Board.
Alvin enjoyed many outdoor activities, including hunting and fishing with friends and family. Alvin could always be found at elk camp with his many stories. When he wasn't out hunting for a monster elk he could be found in a boat on the many lakes around the area, or in the shoreline steam fishing with friends. His favorite past time of all was spending time with his beloved and devoted wife Beverly. She was always at Alvin's side on all these wonderful adventures and memories they made together.
Alvin is surviVed by his wife of 64 years Beverly (Davies) Blickenstaff, granddaughter Maria (Brent) Panos of Janesville, grandson Tyler Blickenstaff of Jacksonville, Florida, and brother Don Blickenstaff of Janesville. As well as great grandson's Lane and Flint, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents Art and Ester Blickenstaff, son's Levi, Jimmy, and Ron Blickenstaff and Brothers Clarence, Glenn and Bob Blickenstaff.
Alvin will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Janesville Cemetery. A potluck celebration of life will be held at Janesville Park on July 15* at 4 p.m. The family has asked for everyone to please bring a favorite dish you would like to share with the family as well as chairs.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask that people make donations to their favorite local charity.
