Macy’s has announced the closure of 66 stores this year as part of its Bold New Chapter plan. This move is part of a broader strategy to close around 150 under performing stores over a three-year period. Tony Spring, chairman and CEO of Macy’s, stated that while closing stores is difficult, it allows the company to focus resources on more successful locations. The department store chain is adjusting its operations in response to declining sales by planning to upgrade 350 stores and increasing staffing through 2026. Macy’s aims to enhance both in-store and online shopping experiences to meet customer expectations. The company reports positive customer feedback regarding improved product offerings and service.
