Delta Air Lines has updated its policy for U.S. domestic flights regarding baggage check-in times. Starting April 8, passengers are required to drop off their bags at least 45 minutes prior to departure. This change aims to enhance the overall travel experience by ensuring safety and punctuality.

To facilitate a smooth journey, Delta advises passengers to check in 24 hours before their flight via the Fly Delta app or Delta.com. Additionally, it is recommended to arrive at the airport two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international ones.

For those traveling without checked bags, check-in must be completed 30 minutes before departure, and all passengers should be at the gate ready to board 15 minutes before the flight.

These guidelines are specifically for flights at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, though check-in times might differ at other U.S. airports. Delta’s research suggests that most travelers already comply with the 45-minute check-in requirement, thus minimizing any potential disruption from this policy adjustment.
