Modoc County Sheriffs Apprehend Registered Sex Offender After Stabbing Incident

Modoc County Sheriffs successfully apprehended a suspect following a disturbing incident in Fort Bidwell where a 24-year-old man was stabbed in the neck. The unnamed victim, after being transported to Surprise Valley Hospital, identified the alleged assailant as Rigoberto, also known as Reggie Castillo, a registered sex offender.

Fortunately, health officials at Surprise Valley Hospital determined that the victim did not sustain life-threatening injuries. However, the incident prompted an immediate investigation by sheriff’s deputies.

The trail led authorities to a residence in the Fort Bidwell Indian Community, where Castillo was found attempting to evade capture. Without further incident, Castillo was taken into custody and is currently held at the county jail, awaiting arraignment and on a parole hold.

Castillo, previously released under parole supervision, had prior convictions for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14. His arraignment is anticipated next week.
